You’ve made it through to the person you wanted to talk to, identified yourself and your reason for calling. Now what?
You’ve got just a few seconds to grab and hold the attention of the person on the other end of the line. Hopefully you’ve fine-tuned your message and practiced with a tape recorder.
Focus your attention on the person on the other end. Be natural. Get to the point. Tell the listener what you do and what makes you unique (unique selling position). Answer the prospect’s question, what’s in it for me?
Be creative, you don’t want to sound like every other person who calls. Tell them what you specialize in and who else you’ve helped. Don’t use jargon. Describe your offer in terms of benefits.
Your objective should usually be to arrange a meeting, get more contact information, or offer a free sample. Don’t plan on getting sales directly from phone marketing. Keep track of your efforts and continue to improve your methods.
